For the tenth consecutive year, the Abdulaziz Ahmed Abdulaziz Humanitarian Foundation sponsored the World Sight Day initiative, organized in Saudi Arabia by the National Prevention of Blindness Committee (NPBC) in partnership with the Ministry of Health. This year’s campaign was launched under the theme “Children, Love Your Eyes,” emphasizing the critical need to prioritize children’s eye health and ensure that every child, everywhere, has the opportunity to care for their vision.
World Sight Day stands as one of the most significant global health observances, celebrated annually on the second Thursday of October. Alarming statistics reveal that 450 million children worldwide are affected by visual conditions that require treatment. Moreover, uncorrected vision problems can severely impact a child’s educational journey, with research showing that providing access to corrective glasses can boost success rates by as much as 66%.
In collaboration with Atheeb Group, the Foundation organized a series of events at its headquarters on Thursday, October 10, and Sunday, October 13. Activities included comprehensive health checks, eye exams for all staff and employees, as well as educational sessions focusing on the importance of regular eye care, especially for children.
The Foundation’s longstanding commitment to social responsibility is evident through its ongoing support of World Sight Day. By sponsoring and actively promoting this cause, it strives to raise awareness about preventable visual impairments, encourage a culture of regular eye screenings, and facilitate access to comprehensive eye care. Through these efforts, the Foundation aims to foster healthy and preventative habits, ultimately reducing the incidence of blindness and eye diseases
